Harlan County’s Abigail Gaw was a winner in both singles and doubles on Thursday at South Laurel as the Lady Bears won 5-4.

The Harlan County girls tennis team ran its record to 3-0 with a hard-fought 5-4 win Thursday at South Laurel. The Harlan County boys fell 9-0 at South Laurel.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our squads,” said HCHS coach Caleb Bailey. “The girls picked up a solid road win against South Laurel. We had to dig deep in some matches and continue to fight and avoid pressure, but we pulled it off. I love the heart that I saw in our squad. That will go a long way in the season. The boys fell tonight to a strong South Laurel squad. I told them not to hang their heads and to use this as experience.”
HCHS returns to action Monday at home against Bell County.
