Patriots coast past Jenkins for third victory

New Harlan improved to 3-0 in middle school baseball action with a 15-4 win in three innings Thursday at Jenkins.
DaShaun Smith led the Patriots with two singles. Brennan Blevins added a double. Brayden Morris, Chance Sturgill, Jesse Gilbert, Grant Shelton, Aidan Lewis, Colby Shepherd and Tabby Mosley contributed one single each.
Blevins struck out six in 2 2/3 innings to earn the win. Ethan Stewart recorded the final out with a strikeout.
The Patriots return to action Tuesday at home against Middlesboro.


Brewer, Owens lead Dragons past Bell
Harlan rolled to a 15-3 win Friday at Bell County in middle school baseball action.
Jake Brewer and Brody Owens led the Dragons’ 11-hit attack with three singles each. Baylor Varner had a triple. Luke Luttrell added a double. Jaxon Perry, Chris Rouse and Braydon Doan added one single each.
Varner earned the win as he struck out six and walked four in 3 2/3 hitless innings on the mound. Luttrell struck out three and walked one in 1 1/3 innings.
Harlan fell 11-1 on Thursday at Leslie County.
Eli Freyer, Luttrell and Rouse had one single each for the Dragons.
Owens struck out four and walked on e in 2 1/3 innings on the mound. Freyer walked one in two innings.


Green Dragons defeat Middlesboro

Harlan won a 15-10 slugfest over Middlesboro on Monday in middle school baseball action.
Baylor Varner led the Dragons’ 11-hit attack with a double and three singles. Luke Luttrell drove in four runs with two doubles. Jake Brewer contributed a double and single. Chris Rouse and Landon Myers each added two singles and two RBI. Eli Freyer had one single.
Freyer, Luttrell, Varner and Brewer split time on the mound.
