Dragons split pair of one-run games at McCreary

McCreary Central’s Brady Corder slid home with the winning run in a 9-8 victory over Harlan on Saturday.

A victim of a walkoff 9-8 loss at McCreary Central in the opening game Saturday, the Harlan Green Dragons bounced back in their second game with a 5-4 win over Williamsburg.
Harlan built a 4-1 lead against Williamsburg, but the Jackets fought back with one run in the fourth and two in the sixth to pull even.
John Mark Bryson singled with two outs in the seventh inning, then stole second and third before scoring what turned out to be the winning run when Andrew Roark reached base on an error.
Bryson led the Harlan offense with a double and single. Noah Lewis also had a double. Evan Browning, Jaedyn Gist and Donovan Montanaro added one single each.
Lewis started on the mound and gave up two runs on two hits in four innings, with three strikeouts and four walks. Bryson earned the win as he allowed two unearned runs on one hit in three innings, with three walks and no strikeouts.
Montanaro led the Dragons against McCreary Central with two doubles. Lewis, Aiden Johnson and Jaedyn Gist each added two singles. Roark and Jayden Ward had one single each.
Jared Moore started on the mound and allowed seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Bryson allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits with four strikeouts and no walks in 2 1/3 innings.
Harlan will play host to Red Bird on Monday.
