New Harlan’s Jessie Gilbert pitched a perfect game with six strikeouts as the Patriots rolled past Barbourville 17-0 in middle school baseball action.

New Harlan improved its record to 5-1 in middle school baseball action with a 17-0 win last week over visiting Barbourville.
Jessie Gilbert earned the win on the mound as he pitched a perfect game with six strikeouts and no walks.
Brennan Blevins led the Patriots with a double and two singles. Chance Sturgill added three singles. Grant Shelton, Colby Shepherd and Gilbert contributed two singles each. DaShaun Smith, Aidan Lewis, Sabby Mosley and Ethan Stewart added one single each.
The Patriots play host to Harlan on Thursday.

 

Sherman leads Lady Skins to win over Harlan

Aly Sherman had four hits, including a triple and double, and pitched a two-hitter as Cumberland won 12-2 at Harlan on Thursday in middle school softball action

Sydney Jenkins added a double and single for the Lady Skins. Daelyn Garland and Savannah Davidson had two singles each. Lexi Adams and Destinee Smith each had a triple. Kaylee Pendleton added a double.

Sherman struck out eight and walked to earn the win.

Peyshaunce Wynn had a double and Jordyn Smith added a single for Harlan.

Cumberland fell 16-1 to Whitley County on April 15.

Sherman and D’Anna Cook had singles for the Lady Skins. Sherman, Adams and Garland shared pitching duties.

Williamsburg defeated the Lady Skins 7-4 on Saturday.

Sherman led the Lady Skins with an inside-the-park homer and a single. Adams added two singles.

Sherman pitched a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts and four walks.

The Lady Skins play host to Middlesboro on Tuesday and play New Harlan on Thursday at Harlan County High School.

 

Redskins sweep doubleheader from Jenkins

Cumberland swept a middle school baseball doubleheader from Jenikins, winning 9-7 and 11-2.

No statistics were available on either game.
