Lady Dragons knock off 13th Region’s top team to end skid

Harlan broke an 11-game losing streak in dominating fashion Friday, pounding four home runs in a 17-11 win over visiting Lynn Camp.
Lynn Camp entered the game as the 13th Region’s top-rated team, according to the RPR ratings used by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. The Lady Cats defeated Harlan 14-2 on March 25 and went on to win the regional All “A” Classic title.
Harlan raced to an 11-4 lead on Friday, but Lynn Camp reposed with six runs in the fourth inning and added one in the fifth to tie the game. The Lady Dragons responded with three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to improve to 4-13 on the season.
Freshman pitcher Carley Thomas led the 18-hit attack, driving in seven runs on a grand slam, a homer and a double. Ella Lisenbee drove in three runs with a homer, double and single. Addison Jackson added a homer and two singles. Mallory McNeil, Ally Kirby and Emma Eversole had two singles each. Ava Nunez, Ella Farley and Annie Hoskins added one single each.
Thomas struck out five and walked four while giving up 11 runs (four earned) on eight hits to earn the win.
The Lady Dragons return to action Monday at Middlesboro.

Harlan fell 5-0 on Thursday at Pineville as Rachel Howard pitched a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts and one walk for the Lady Lions.
Nunez, Jackson and Lisenbee had hits for Harlan.
