Dragons close season with rout of Pineville; Bears fall at Barbourville

Noah Lewis had three hits in Harlan’s 17-2 win Thursday at Pineville.

A seven-run first inning was more than enough for the Harlan Green Dragons on Thursday in a 17-2 win at Pineville.
Senior catcher Noah Lewis pounded out three hits while driving in two runs and scoring three to lead the Harlan offense. Jared Moore added a double and single. Donovan Montanaro singled twice. Dawson Irvin, Kevin Thomas Lee, Brody Owens, Baylor Varner and Andrew Roark added one single each. Roark drove in four runs while Montanaro and Varner drove in two each.
Montanaro earned the win as he gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits in four innings, with six strikeouts and one walk. Varner pitched one shutout inning with two strikeouts.
Deakon Partin, Wyatt Caldwell and Kaiden Robbins had one single each for the 1-17 Mountain Lions.
The 13-15 Green Dragons will play host to the 52nd District Tournament next week and will take on Harlan County in the first round on Monday at 7:30 p.m

Barbourville scored the first five runs of the game and then the last four after Harlan County battled back to tie on the way to a 10-6 win Thursday over the visiting Black Bears. 

Jacob Lundy had three hits and Matthew Warren added two with two RBI each to lead the 11-9 Tigers.

Harlan County was led by Jonah Swanner with two singles. Nate Shepherd added a double. Brayden Blakley and Samuel Henson added one single each. Henson drove in three runs.

The 9-18 Bears will play Harlan on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the 52nd District Tournament.
