Harlan senior Cade Middleton placed third in the shot put and fifth in the discus at the Class A state meet in Lexington.

Harlan recorded four top 10 finishes Thursday in the Class A state meet in Lexington, led by senior Cade Middleton, who was third in the shot put and fifth in the discus.
I have to congratulate Cade Middleton for a great season. He placed third at state and set school records in both shot put and discus,” said assistant coach Joe Bill Baker. “Harlan has always had a strong tradition in track, and I feel we have continued that and we will have some talented athletes returning so the future of our program is very promising.”
The relay team of Kaleb McLendon, Dairus Akal, Jaedyn Gist and Johann Gist) placed eighth in the 4 x 200 and ninth in the 4 x 100.
“Our program really shined this year,” said coach Trent McKenzie. “From the field event athletes to our runners, we saw improvement all season. Our boys team broke a few school records this year and the girls team came very close. With a lot of the team returning next year, I am excited to see what the future holds. The sky really is the limit for these young athletes.”
