Harlan All-Stars split first two games in tourney

The Harlan All-Stars lost 20-7 to Knox County on Saturday in first-round play for the District 4 Tournament (8 and under) at Hazard.
Maddox Helton led Harlan with a double and single. Madilyn Helton and Weston Nolan added two singles each. Cian Garland had a double. Grant Caldwell, Easton Halcomb, Lakin Smith, Waylon Taylor, Colt Sullivan and Sawyer Shackleford added one single each.
Harlan bounced back with a 23-7 win over Clay County on Monday. Garland led Harlan with two inside-the-park homers and a single. Sullivan had an inside-the-park homer, along with a triple and single. Landon Spurlock had an inside-the-park homer and two singles. Maddox Helton and Shackleford each had a double and single. Easton Halcomb, Nolan and Caldwell added two singles each. Smith, Lisenbee and Taylor had triples. Madilyn Helton contributed a single.
Caldwell pounded out four singles and Nolan had a triple and two singles as Harlan defeated Pulaski County 23-11. Garland, Lisenbee and Halcomb added a double and two singles each. Maddox Helton singled three times. Madilyn Helton and Spurlock each singled twice. Sullivan, Shackleford and Taylor added one single each.
