Splawn records 4 goals as Bears stay perfect in district; Lady Bears blank Knox

Harlan County sophomore Ray Splawn, pictured in action earlier this season, scored four goals Tuesday in the Bears’ 6-0 win over Middlesboro.

Harlan County ran its district mark to 4-0 with a 6-0 win Tuesday over visiting Middlesboro.
The Bears’ offense was led by sophomore Ray Spawn with four goals. Caydon Shanks and Jonathan Akers, both seniors, added one goal each. Matt Jones contributed an assist.
Hunter Napier recorded five saves in goal. Bradley Brock added one.
The 5-4-2 Bears return to action on Sept. 22 at Whitley County.

The Harlan County girls also claimed a shutout win, downing Knox Central 2-0 on Tuesday in Barbourville.
Abigail Gaw and Santana Risner each had goals for the Lady Bears. Gaw also added an assist.
Kenzie Crider had eight saves in goal.
The 3-8 Lady Bears will be at home Thursday against Bell County.
