Harlan County splits doubleheader against Neon/Letcher

Harlan County running back Brayden Morris scored two toucndowns in the eighth-grade Bears’ loss to Fleming-Neon/Letcher Central.

Harlan County split a pair of games Thursday against visiting Fleming-Neon/Letcher Central as the sixth-grade squad won 22-6 and the eighth-grade team fell 32-26.
Riley Fuson led the sixth-grade Bears with 155 yards and two touchdowns on two carries. Hudson Faulkner added 71 yards and a touchdown on six carries.
Fuson started the scoring with an 85-yard run. Faulkner added the two-point conversion.
After a Neon score, Fuson ran 70 yards and Faulkner added the conversion for a 16-6 lead.
Faulkner ran 69 yards to give Harlan County a 22-6 halftime lead.
Braydon Cole led the Bears on defense with six tackles and a sack. Faulkner had five tackles. Eli Joseph had two tackles and a forced fumble. Wynn Cooper forced a fumble and recovered it. Hunter Fuson had an interception. Mason Jones recovered a fumble.
Brayden Morris ran for two touchdowns to lead the HC offense in the eighth-grade game.
Morris scored on a 9-yard run after Neon had taken an 8-0 lead.
Two more Neon touchdowns pushed the lead to 20-6 before Morris scored on an 11-yard run to cut the deficit to 20-12.
Neon scored against before Landon Brock teamed with Isaiah Cornett for a 30-yard touchdown followed by a conversion run from Morris to make the score 26-20.
Another Neon TD pushed the lead to 12 before Brock teamed with Cornett for a 20-yard touchdown to close the scoring.

Harlan County won one and lost two in a tripleheader Saturday at Wayne County.
The Black Bears rolled to a 24-0 win in the sixth-grade game.
Riley Fuson scored the first HC touchdown followed by a two-point conversion from Hudson Faulkner.
Faulkner scored the second touchdown and added the conversion for a 16-0 lead.
Jackson Mackowiak scored the third touchdown, with Hunter Fuson adding the fourth and final touchdown.
Brayden Morris and Braydon Middleton each scored touchdowns as the Bears fell 35-16 in eighth-grade action. Middleton and Isaiah Cornett each added two-point conversions.
The Black Bears fell 24-0 in seventh-grade action.

Harlan County was swept Sept. 10 at home against Northern Pulaski. The Black Bears fell 26-0 in sixth-grade action, 26-0 in the seventh-grade game and 30-6 in eighth-grade action. Braydon Middleton had an 8-yard touchdown run for HC.
Knox Central defeated the Bears 36-0 on Thursday in an eighth-grade game.
