Harlan quarterback Donovan Montanaro handed the ball off to Jayden Ward in Friday’s 50-0 win at Phelps.

As a prohibitive favorite Friday at Phelps, the Harlan Green Dragons were in a position to experiment and found success scoring in different ways.
Harlan junior quarterback Donovan Montanaro threw three touchdown passes and the Dragons added touchdowns on defense and special teams in a 50-0 victory to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Montanaro completed four of six passes for 117 yards, including two touchdowns to Will Austin and one to Nate Montanaro.
Austin also scored a touchdown on defense with a fumble recovery in the end zone. Darius Akal added a touchdown on a kickoff return. Jayden Ward and Ryley Medford scored touchdowns on the ground. Ward, Akal, Sedrick Washington and Shaun Burnett each contributed two-point conversions.
Dylan Middleton and R.W. Sanford led the Harlan defense with seven tackles each. Harlan limited the 0-6 Hornets to 16 yards rushing and nine yards passing.
The Green Dragons open their district schedule Friday at Williamsburg, against the six-time defending champs.
