Favorites advance in 5-6 county tournament

All the favorites moved on in the first day of play in the fifth- and sixth-grade county tournament Saturday at James A. Cawood Elementary School.
Brylie Wilson scored nine points and Brooklyn Haywood added eight as Wallins pulled away in the second half for a 25-13 win over Evarts.
Audriana Stewart led the Lady Cats with eight points.
Black Mountain took control early on the way to a 29-7 victory over Cawood. Mylee Boots scored 10 to lead the Tigerettes, who are seeded third.
James A. Cawood, the second seed, routed Cumberland 27-3 as Taylynn Napier scored seven and Clarissa Yost added six for the Trojanettes.
Top-seeded Rosspoint will play Wallins on Tuesday at 5:30 in the semifinals at JACES. Black Mountain will play James A. Cawood at 7 p.m.
The consolation and championship games will be played Thursday at Harlan County High School.
