Lady Dragons coast past Shelby Valley in scrimmage

Determined to reverse their fortunes from a season ago when they finished 9-18, the Harlan Lady Dragons knocked off one of the 15th Region’s top teams from last season in a preseason scrimmage Saturday with a 55-39 victory over visiting Shelby Valley.
Sophomore guards Kylie Noe and Aymanni Wynn, two of the 13th Region’s top-ranked players, led the Lady Dragons with 19 and 16 points, respectively. Junior guard Emma Owens added 10 points.
The Lady Kats, who finished 22-10 last season and were ranked third in the 15th Region in the RPI system, were led by eighth-grader Miley Riddle with 11 points.
Harlan will open its regular season schedule on Nov. 28 at Corbin against the defending 13th Region champs.
Shelby Valley won 34-30 in junior varsity action.
Seventh-grade guard Peyshaunce Wynn led the Lady Dragons with 11 points. Abbi Fields scored seven. Addison Campbell, Raegan Goodman and Annie Hoskins added four each.
