Bears, Bobcats split JV/frosh doubleheader

 

Harlan County split a freshman/junior varsity doubleheader Monday at Bell County as the Bobcats held off a late rally to win 57-55 in freshman action before the Bears bounced back with a 52-41 win in the junior varsity game.
Freshman guard Reggie Cottrell scored 13 and sophomore guard Brody Napier added 11 to lead the 1-1 Black Bears in the junior varsity game.
Ethan Buell scored 16 and Jaxon Thomas added 13 for the Bobcats.
Harlan County rallied from nine down in the final two minutes to pull even in the freshman game before the Bobcats won on two Thomas free throws with nine seconds left. Thomas scored 27 to lead Bell. Logan Stepp added 11.
Cottrell poured in 30 for the 0-1 Bears, followed by Brennan Blevins with 11 and Aidan Reynolds with 10.
