Fields pitches 3-hitter as Lady Bears defeat Cumberland

Maddy Fields tossed a three-hitter with five strikeouts and four walks as Harlan County defeated Cumberland 9-3 in middle school softball action Thursday at Harlan County High School.
Carmen Gamboa led the Lady Bears at the plate with a triple and single. Fields, Raegan Landa and Jaylin Robinson each added a double and single. Madi Nolan and Kelsie Middleton chipped in with one single each.
Aly Sherman, Paisleigh Bledsoe and Kira Harris each had one hit for Cumberland.
Sherman pitched a complete game with five strikeouts and five walks.

 

Lady Dragons sweep doubleheader at Lynn Camp
Adelynn Burgan and Jordyn Smith had back-to-back strong pitching performances as Harlan swept a doubleheader at Lynn Camp in middle school softball action.
Burgan struck out seven and walked one in a 17-1 victory in the opener. Smith led the Lady Dragons on offense with a triple, double and single. Emilee Shaw added a triple and two singles. Burgan singled twice. Jaylyn Wynn added a triple. Breslyn Harmon and Addyson Patton contributed one single each.
Smith struck out nine and walked four in the nightcap as Harlan won 15-0. Shaw led the offense with a triple and single. Smith added a double and single. Sariah Pace contributed a double. Lacey Lemur and Bella Miniard added one single each.
