DeShaun Smith, of the 421 Vendors Mall team in the Harlan Little League, fought off a fastball on his fist before dumping a base hit into left field Tuesday evening. Smith had inside-the-park homers in each of the last two games, including Friday in a 9-8 win over Baker’s Tax.

Baker’s Tax scored one run in the top of the fifth and 421 Vendors Mall scored two in the bottom of the fifth to win 9-8 and end perhaps the most competitive game in the first two weeks of the Harlan Little League season.
Jaxson Perry had two singles and a double and drove in Aidan Lewis with the winning run to lead 421 Vendors Mall on offense. DaShaun Smith had his second inside-the-park homer of the season and also added a double. Luke Luttrell contributed two doubles and a single. Grant Shelton, Ethan Stewart and Zane White added one single each.
Chance Sturgill earned the win on the mound with eight strikeouts in three innings. Perry struck out three in two innings to start the game.
Landon Myers and Jacob Deleon each had hits for Baker’s Tax.
Jesse Gilbert struck out eight in four innings. Braydon Doan and Myers also saw mound action.
