The Harlan County girls tennis team stayed perfect on the season at 4-0 with wins last week of Knox Central and Whitley County. The HCHS boys team fell 8-1 to Knox Central and Whitley County.
“It was two great performances by our Harlan County girls tennis team,” Harlan County coach Caleb Bailey said. “They played with determination and focus, earning strong regional wins over Knox Central and Whitley County. Our singles and doubles players stepped up in big moments, showing resilience and teamwork. We have a young girls team outside of our top 3, and they are learning quickly and buying into the system. I’m proud of the effort and the way they supported each other on the court and can’t wait to see how far they go.
“On the boys’ side, we faced tough competition, but there were several bright spots. We had some hard-fought singles wins and competitive doubles matches. This will serve as tremendous learning experience for our boys to grow and learn from. Our boys were down a few players against Knox, so that certainly did not help the outcome. I’m excited to see their progress throughout the season.”
Both teams return to action Friday at home against Pineville.
