After leading his Black Bears to a six-game improvement from last season, Harlan County coach Jacob Saylor has been named the 4A District 8 Coach of the Year by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association.
It’s a huge honor, and coach Saylor did a fantastic job this year in leading our team to its first winning season and first home playoff game since 2019,” said HCHS athletic director Eugene Farmer. “I’m super proud of coach Saylor. It’s always special to get recognized for an award voted on by your peers. I congratulate coach Saylor.”
Superintendent Brett Johnson, a former assistant coach under Saylor, said, “coach Saylor’s leadership exemplifies the best of Harlan County High School athletics. His dedication to developing our student-athletes both on and off the field has earned him this well-deserved honor. We congratulate him on this recognition and celebrate the success of our Black Bear football program.”
“Coach Saylor’s dedication, leadership and commitment to our student-athletes have truly made a difference this season,” said HCHS Principal Kathy Napier. “This well-deserved recognition reflects not only his hard work but also the positive impact he has on our school and community. We’re so proud of him and our Black Bear football program.”
