Mountain Lions rally with 8-run seventh to down Harlan

Harlan’s Shane Lindsey jumped out of the way of a pitch as Pineville catcher Wyatt Caldwell stretched to make the stop in the season opener for both teams Monday. Pineville rallied for a 12-6 victory.

Three outs away from opening the season with an impressive win, the Harlan Green Dragons couldn’t find the plate in the seventh inning and watched victory slip away Monday.
The visiting Pineville Mountain Lions took advantage of five walks, five hit batsmen and one error to score eight runs in the seventh inning to rally for a 12-6 win over Harlan.
Evan Biliter and Jadyn Hensley each had doubles to lead the Pineville offense. Ty Clark, Hensley and Wyatt Caldwell added singles.
Jaedyn Gist led the Harlan offense with a triple. John Mark Bryson added a double. Evan Browning, Jeremiah Mills, Ethan Cornett and Jared Moore added singles.
Browning started on the mound for the Dragons, striking out 11 while giving up four runs on four hits in four innings. Bryson struck out three and allowed one hit and two runs in two innings. Browning returned to the mound to start the seventh. Shane Lindsey, Moore, Ethan Cornett and Jeremiah Mills also pitched in the seventh inning with Cornett retiring two batters on strikeouts and Mills retiring one on a strikeout.
Biliter started on the mound for the Lions, giving up four runs on two hits in two innings with two strikeouts and three walks. Caden Kindle allowed one run in two innings with four strikeouts and one walk. Joseph Brigmon gave up two hits and one run in two innings, with four strikeouts and no walks. Chandler Baker retired all three batters he faced in the seventh inning.
Harlan returns to action Tuesday at home against Leslie County. Pineville will be at home against Lynn Camp on Tuesday.
