Harlan County’s Abigail Gaw, pictured in action earlier this season, was a winner against Barbourville in both single and doubles as the Lady Bears won 8-1.

The Harlan County High School tennis teams split matches against Barbourville, 8-1 in the girls competition and losing 5-4 in boys action.
“After the long event we had yesterday, our girls kicked it into a higher gear and played very well against Barbourville,” Harlan County coach Caleb Bailey said. “Our boys hit a tough spot in some matches and ultimately it cost us. We had some big wins on both sides today and we are improving each day. Even when someone loses, there is experience gained which ultimately helps us in future matches. I’m very impressed with how our girls team is growing. Overall today was a good day of tennis for our program.”
