Lady Bears sweep Barbourville, fall to Middlesboo

Middlesboro’s Jamarah Young reached to tag Harlan County’s Joselyn Lee in Thursday’s district game at HCHS.

Harlan County swept a doubleheader Thursday from visiting Barbourville, winning 10-0 in the first game and 16-1 in the nightcap.
Kerrigan Creech pitched a one-hitter in the opener with five strikeouts and two walks.
Jacey Lewis led the HCHS offense with a double and single. Allee Galloway singled twice. Brandy Adams had a double and drove in three runs. Creech and Brenna Early added one single each.
Lewis had four hits in the second game, including a double, and drove in three runs. Creech had a double and single Joselyn Lee added a double. Early and Adams added singles.
Creech and Brittleigh Estep each pitched one inning. Maddy Blair pitched two.

Mackenzie Miller drove in five runs with two home runs and pitched a complete game as Middlesboro clinched the top seed in the 52nd District with a 10-3 win Thursday at Harlan County.
Adams led the Lady Bears on offense with a double and two singles. Lewis singled twice. Estep, Creech, Lee and Blair had one hit each.
Blair, Estep and Lola Maggard shared mound duty for Harlan County.
