Harlan coach Alex Pennington talked to the Lady Dragons during a game earlier this season. Harlan claimed its first win of the season on Thursday with a 16-1 victory over Barbourville.

The Harlan Lady Dragons picked a good time to play their best softball of the season, ending a 15-game losing streak to start the 2021 season with a 16-1 win Thursday over visiting Barbourville.
No statistical information was available on that game, or the Lady Dragons’ 16-3 loss to visiting Leslie County on Wednesday.
Harlan fell 23-2 to Knox Central on Tuesday. Addison Jackson and Ella Lisenbee each had doubles for Harlan. Carley Thomas added a single. Thomas gave up nine runs in three innings with two walks. Mallory McNiel gave up 14 runs in one inning with four walks.
The Lady Dragons lost 5-3 to Pineville on May 21. Jackson led the Lady Dragons with two triples. Thomas and Abbi Fields each had a double. Lisenbee added a single. Thomas gave up five runs on seven hits in a complete game, with six strikeouts and no walks.
Harlan lost 12-1 to Knox Central on May 20. Faith Hoskins led Harlan with a double. Lisenbee and Ella Farley added singles. Thomas gave up seven runs in three innings with one strikeout and three walks. McNiel allowed five runs in two innings, with three strikeouts and two walks.
The 1-15 Lady Dragons will play host to Middlesboro on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the first round of the 52nd District Tournament.
