Taylor edges HCHS in overtime in KBA tournament play

Harlan County guard Jonah Swanner stole the ball in the Bears’ win over Barbourville on Monday at South Laurel. Swanner scored 23 points on Saturday in a scrimmage against Taylor County.

A last-second 3-pointer by Taylor County from halfcourt forced overtime and the Cardinals went on to defeat Harlan County 75-70 in KBA Tournament action on Saturday at Lexington Catholic.
Jonah Swanner was one of four Bears in double figures as he scored 23 points. Maddox Huff tossed in 20. Jackson Huff scored 17. Daniel Carmical added 10.
Harlan County, now 9-7 on the summer, will play at South Laurel on Monday.
The Harlan County junior varsity team fell 49-28 to Henry Clay.

Harlan County won two of three games in pool play Friday in the KBA Tournament in Lexington.
The Black Bears hit 13 3-pointers as they opened with an 80-62 win over Lafayette. Junior guard Daniel Carmical led HCHS with 23 points. Maddox Huff scored 20. Jackson Huff tossed in 15. Caleb Johnson scored seven, followed by Jonah Swanner with six, Jeremiah Clem with five and Jared Rhymer with four.
Jackson Huff and Carmical each scored 17 as the Bears hit 12 3-pointers and downed Chapmanville, W.Va. 64-46. Maddox Huff and Swnner each scored 12. Johnson added four. Clem scored two.
Jackson Huff scored 21 as the Bears fell 71-55 to Woodford County Swanner tossed in 16. Maddox Huff added 14. Clem and Carmical scored two each.
Harlan County defeated Carter Christian Academy 48-42 and lost to Bourbon County 46-35 in junior varsity action.
