Rosspoint, JACES headed to finals after semifinal victories

The top two seeds moved on to a championship game showdown with victories Tuesday in the semifinals of the county fifth- and sixth-grade tournament at James A. Cawood Elementary School.
Shasta Brackett scored 16 points and Lauren Lewis added 14 as top-seeded Rosspoint pulled away in the second half for a 47-20 win over Black Mountain.
Madalyn Bennett paced Black Mountain with 13 points.
Carmen Thomas scored 12 points as James A. Cawood moved into the finals with a 34-20 win over Wallins in the second semifinal.
Raegan Landa led Wallins with eight points.
Rosspoint will play James A. Cawood on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the county finals at Harlan County High School. Black Mountain will take on Wallins in the third-place game at 5:30.
