JACES, Evarts advance to semifinals with wins

James A. Cawood and Evarts punched their tickets to the final four of the seventh- and eighth-grade county tournament with first-round victories Saturday at James A. Cawood.
Lacy Robinson and Jaiden Marlowe each scored nine points as JACES won a hard-fought 33-30 decision over Cawood.
Maddi Middleton scored 14 to lead the Lady Comets.
Evarts rolled into the semifinals with a 30-14 win over Cumberland behind eight points from Willow Peace and seven from Tori Robinson.
Destinee Smith led Cumberland with six points.
Top-seeded Wallins will play James A. Cawood on Tuesday at 5:30. Rosspoint will play Evarts at 7 p.m. The consolation and championship games will be played Thursday at Harlan County High School.
