Akal explodes for 43 as Dragons hold off Southwestern

Harlan guard Jordan Akal, pictured in action earlier this season, scored 43 points on Monday in the Green Dragons’ win over Southwestern.

Jordan Akal scored 43 points, including nine 3-pointers, as Harlan held on for an 87-84 win Monday at Southwestern.
The Warriors fought back from a five-point halftime deficit to pull even at 63-all going into the final period. Akal took over from there as he scored 16 in the fourth quarter to send Harlan to the win.
Kaleb McLendon added 22 points, hitting seven 3-pointers, as the Dragons improved to 7-4. Will Austin chipped in with 15 points.
Southwestern fell to 3-9 on the season with the loss.
The Green Dragons return to action on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m against Wayne County in the Monticello Bank Classic
