Lady Dragons steamroll past OBI in All ‘A’ quarterfinals

Harlan guard Emma Owens, pictured on defense in a game at Williamsburg last week, scored 17 points on Tuesday in the Lady Dragons’ 84-13 rout of Oneida Baptist in the 13th Region All “A” Classic.

Harlan rolled into the semifinal round of the 13th Region All “A” Classic with an 84-13 rout of Oneida Baptist on Tuesday at Williamsburg High School.
The Lady Dragons outscored OBI 33-0 in the first quarter, led by 13 points from sophomore guard Emma Owens. Harlan extended the lead to 50-5 at halftime and had a running clock the entire second half.
Owens scored 17 to lead the 6-8 Lady Dragons and was one of five in double figures. Peighton Jones and Leah Davis added 12 points each. Faith Hoskins and Aymanni Wynn chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Lady Dragons will play Barbourville on Thursday at 7:30 in the second semifinal game. Middlesboro will play Jackson County at 6 p.m. The championship game is set for Friday at 7 p.m.
Senior center Brianna Gallagher exploded for 41 points and senior guard Sarah Smith added 26 as Barbourville advanced with an 80-75 overtime win over Pineville in the second game Tuesday.
Abby Jackson led Pineville with 27 points.
Middlesboro rolled past Williamsburg 67-35 and Jackson County downed Red Bird 81-52 in first-round games Monday.
