Lady Bears roll to wins over Hazard, Barbourville

Madison Blair pitched a six-hitter Thursday as Harlan County rolled to a 9-4 win over visiting Hazard.

A four-run first inning by her offense was enough for Harlan County pitcher Madison Blair on Thursday as she scattered six hits while walking only one in the Lady Bears’ 9-4 win over visiting Hazard.
After giving up a run in the first inning, Blair shut out the Lady Dogs until giving up two runs in the seventh.
Halle Raleigh led the HCHS offense with a triple and single. Jade Burton singled twice. Halanah Shepherd added a triple. Blair, Rylie Maggard and Jenna Wilson contributed one single each.
Alexa Muha led the 11-10 Lady Dogs with a triple and two singles. Mallory Combs, Ryleigh Griffith and Jocelyn Mullins had one single each.
Blair led off the game with a single and Wilson was hit by a pitch before Burton drove in a run with a single and Shepherd followed with an RBI triple.Two runs scored on errors as the Lady Bears took a 4-1 lead.
Burton and Maggard had singles in the third inning as the HCHS lead grew to 5-1. Raleigh tripled in the fourth inning and came around to score on an errant throw that bounced past third base.
Raleigh and Wilson had hits in the sixth inning as the Lady Bears extended their advantage to 9-1.

The Lady Bears rolled to a 19-8 six-inning win Friday at Barbourville.
Brittleigh Estep drove in five runs on two doubles and a single. Halanah Shepherd added three singles. Jade Burton and Rylie Maggard each had a double and single. Madison Blair, Halle Raleigh, Hailey Austin and Lesleigh Brown contributed two singles each. Jenna Wilson added one single. Shepherd, Austin and Maggard scored three runs each.
Blair was the winning pitcher, giving up eight runs (three earned) on 12 hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
Harlan County (9-16) will travel to Harlan on Monday.
