Rosspoint downs Black Mountain in county showdown

In a battle of unbeatens, Rosspoint cemented its position as the favorite in the county seventh- and eighth-grade league with a 37-17 win Tuesday over visiting Black Mountain in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.
Jaylee Cochran led the 7-1 Lady Cats (5-0 in county action) with a 37-17 victory.
Maddie Bennett paced Black Mountain with seven points.
Rosspoint improved to 8-0 in fifth- and sixth-grade action with a 45-25 victory. Shasta Brackett scored 13 and Kenadee Sturgill added 12 for Rosspoint.
Kelsie Middleton, Mylee Boots and Gracie Youngs paced Black Mountain with six points each.

Evarts outscored visiting Stinnett 6-0 in overtime to win 30-24 in fifth- and sixth-grade basketball action Tuesday.
Rheagan Halcomb led the Lady Cats with 14 points.
Evarts fell 40-35 in seventh- and eighth-grade action as Rockell Robinson led the Lady Cats with 12 points.

Maddie Bennett scored 19 and Aubrey Madden added 10 to lead the Tigerettes.
Madison Johnson paced Pineville with 16 points.
Led by 16 points from Vanessa Griffith, Black Mountain won 38-16 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.
Kaelyn Burnett led Pineville with eight points.
Anessa Carroll scored four as Black Mountain won 10-2 in a fourth-grade game.
Black Mountain will play at Rosspoint on Tuesday. Both teams are unbeaten in county seventh- and eighth-grade play.
