The Harlan Green Dragons hosted the E.R. “Doc” Gray Invitational on Saturday. The Harlan boys placed second overall with 96 points, and the girls finished fourth with 51 points.
“It’s great hosting our own meet so alumni and staff can come out to watch our athletes,” Harlan track coach Trent McKenzie said.
“I think we had a great showing and we are still getting multiple PRs each meet,” McKenzie said.
To lead the Dragons, Tanner Daniels won the 800-meter run. Gibson Wilder won the 110-meter hurdles. Izack Saylor won high jump.
In the 100-meter dash, Hunter Brock finished sixth. Braxton Rowe was 11th, immediately followed by Joe Reynolds.
Murtaza Hussain placed ninth in the 200-meter dash. He was immediately followed by Payton Glenn.
Cruz Galloway finished ninth in the 800-meter run. Carter White and Brayden York were 12th and 13th, respectively.
In the 1,600-meter run, Galloway placed sixth. White was 11th, immediately followed by Mason Raleigh and York.
In the 4 x 100-meter relay, Saylor, Brock, Glenn and Reynolds were second.
Reynolds, Brock, Glenn and Rowe placed second in the 4 x 200-meter relay.
Rowe, Galloway, Wilder and Daniels finished second in the 4 x 400-meter relay.
In the 4 x 800-meter relay, White, York, Raleigh and Wilder placed third.
Wilder finished second in the 300-meter hurdles. He was immediately followed by Hussain.
Saylor placed sixth in long jump.
Brock was fifth in high jump.
In shot put, Jordan Rodriguez placed fourth. Logan Thompson and Hunter Simpson were 10th and 14th, respectively. Mark Lane was 16th.
In discus, Jordan Rodriguez was fifth. Michael Lindsey placed 12th. Rylan Rodriguez and Logan Thompson placed 13th and 14th, respectively.
Harper Carmical paced the Lady Dragons, winning the 3,200-meter run. Carmical also placed third in the 800- and 1,600-meter run.
Talae Manning placed 12th in the 100-meter dash.
In the 800-meter run, Cora Jones finished sixth. She was immediately followed by Gwendolyn Toll.
Jones was fifth in the 1,600-meter run and second in the 3,200-meter run.
In high jump, Toll placed second.
Amelia Bryant placed seventh in shot put and discus.
“Our kids are improving each meet, and we think we are right where we need to be for region,” McKenzie said.
Harlan’s middle-schoolers will compete at North Laurel on Monday for an all comers meet.

Harlan’s Harper Carmical competed in the Southwest Insurance Relays at Big Stone Gap, Va. on Wednesday.
She finished sixth in the 1,600-meter run and fourth in the 3,200-meter run.
