The Harlan and Harlan County track teams ended their regular seasons Tuesday as they competed in an all-comers meet at Leslie County.
The Bears won the meet with 162 points.
The Lady Bears finished second overall with 130 points, 36 points behind Leslie County.
The Dragons and Lady Dragons each placed 10th.
To lead Harlan County‘s boys, Jonah Sharp won the 100-meter dash. Jayce Brown won pole vault.
Sharp, Ryan Day, Jerome Monroe and Landon Cook won the 4 x 100-meter relay.
Jacob Schwenke, Ben Cochran, Braxton Hubbard and Trevor Farley won the 4 x 400-meter relay.
Farley, Hubbard, Schwenke and Ethan Lewis won the 4 x 800-meter relay.
Day placed sixth in the 100-meter dash. He was immediately followed by Cook.
In the 200-meter dash, Sharp finished third. Cook was sixth. Monroe placed ninth.
Schwenke placed fourth in the 400-meter dash. Farley finished seventh.
In the 800-meter run, Schwenke was fifth. Farley and Karsen Dunn were seventh and 10th, respectively.
Lewis placed seventh in the 1,600-meter run. Braxton Duncan was ninth, immediately followed by Christopher Johnson.
Braxton Duncan finished second in the 3,200-meter run. He was immediately followed by Lewis, Jayden Sargent, Kaylob Stevens, Tanner Widener and Arthur Harrison.
In the 4 x 200-meter relay, Day, Cook, Monroe and Sharp placed third.
Dunn, Widener, Jayden Sargent and Kaylob Stevens were third in the 4 x 800-meter relay.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Drew Sergent finished second. Landyn Noe was fourth, while Jaxton Hickson placed eighth.
Drew Sergent placed third in the 300-meter hurdles. Noe finished ninth.
In long jump, Caden Craig placed fourth. Bryson Bryant and Ashton Anderson were fifth and ninth, respectively.
Bryant placed third in high jump.
Craig was second in triple jump. Bryant placed fourth. Billy Harrison was eighth, while Hickson placed ninth.
Anderson placed second in pole vault. Jacob Brock was fourth.
In shot put, Hunter Stevens was fifth. Braxton Cornett placed 10th.
In unified shot put, Aiden Jones was second. Hunter Hughes was third.
Kiera Roberts won the 3,200-meter run to lead Harlan County’s girls.
Kiera Roberts, Gracie Roberts, Andrea Napier and Lauren Lewis won the 4 x 800-meter relay.
In the 100-meter dash, Kenadee Sturgill placed sixth. Makenna Dillman was ninth, immediately followed by Macy Jones.
Jaycee Simpson finished sixth in the 200-meter dash. Sturgill was ninth.
Lewis placed third in the 400-meter dash. Simpson and Napier were sixth and ninth, respectively.
In the 800-meter run, Lewis finished third. Priscilla Stewart placed ninth.
Gracie Roberts placed third in the 1,600-meter run.
In the 3,200-meter run, Suzy Mumford finished fourth. Layken Saylor was seventh.
Dillman, Jones, Sturgill and Addi Gray were second in the 4 x 100-meter relay.
In the 4 x 200-meter relay, Dillman, Gray, Simpson and Sturgill finished third.
Lewis, Napier, Simpson and Rileigh Duff placed second in the 4 x 400-meter relay.
Paisli Boggs was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles.
In long jump, Duff placed second. Maliyah Washington was fifth.
Jovi Tye was seventh in high jump. Vanessa Griffith placed ninth.
Duff placed fourth in triple jump. Washington and Aiselyn Sexton were fifth and eighth, respectively.
In pole vault, Madilynn Lemar was fourth. Mumford and Sexton placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
In shot put, Addyson Caldwell placed fifth. Ali Hensley was eighth, while Savanna Madden placed 10th.
Ali Hensley placed seventh in discus. Caldwell was eighth.
“I thought both teams competed hard in our final meet,” Harlan County track coach Ryan Vitatoe said. “I’m really proud of how far this group has come from the beginning of the season. You can see the improvement, and I’m excited to see how it carries over into the regional meet.”
Izack Saylor won high jump to lead Harlan’s boys. Saylor also placed third in long jump.
Braxton Rowe finished ninth in the 100-meter dash and sixth in high jump.
Jordan Rodriguez placed ninth in shot put and 10th in discus.
To pace Harlan’s girls, Cora Jones finished fifth in the 3,200-meter run. Jones also placed eighth in the 1,600-meter run.
Harper Carmical finished sixth in the 800-meter run.
Gwendolyn Toll placed sixth in high jump.
“We had a good turn out at Leslie. The kids are getting more excited about region,” Harlan track coach Trent McKenzie said. “Myself and the other coaches are getting excited as the kids are hitting their marks.”
Harlan County will compete Tuesday at Magoffin County in the Class 2A, Region 7 meet.
Harlan will compete Thursday at Williamsburg in the Class A, Region 6 meet.
