The defending county champion Rosspoint Lady Cats established themselves as the early favorite this season with three blowout wins Saturday at Harlan County High School in the Black Bears Preseason Tournament.
Sixth-grade center Shasta Brackett led the Lady Cats in all three games, including a 14-point effort in Rosspoint’s 34-9 win over Wallins in the championship game. Lauren Lewis added 10 points for Rosspoint.
Kylie Runions scored three to lead Wallins.
Brackett tossed in 14 points and Jaylee Cochran added 10 to lead Rosspoint in a 27-11 win over James A. Cawood in the semifinals.
Taylynn Napier scored six for JACES.
Kayleigh Templeton led Wallins to a 27-14 semifinal win over Cawood.
Riley Clem paced the Lady Comets with 10 points.
Brackett scored 15 as Rosspoint rolled past Black Mountain 38-13 in the opening round.
Jayla Dillman led Black Mountain with seven points.
Runions scored 12 as Wallins defeated Evarts 33-5.
Shawnee Peace led Evarts with three points.
Jinna Smith tossed in 12 points and Clem added 10 as Cawood defeated Cumberland 25-5.
Julionna Johnson scored all five points for the Lady Skins.
The seventh- and eighth-grade division of the tournament will be held Saturday at HCHS.
