Hazard/Perry defeats Harlan for east title in 9-10 level

Harlan’s Easton Halcomb connected on a pitch in a loss Saturday to Hazard/Perry in the eastern division championship game in District 4. Harlan plays Knox County on Monday at 6 for second place and a berth in the district final four.

Hazard/Perry captured the championship of the east division of the District 4 Tournament with a 9-0 win Saturday over Harlan in a five-inning game.
Maddox Landa had two singles to lead the Harlan offense. Seth Johnson, Grant Caldwell, Brylee Southerland and Cian Garland had one single each.
Harlan had its best scoring opportunity in the third inning, loading the bases before Hazard worked out of trouble.
Johnson pitched two innings to suffer the loss on the mound. Weston Nolan pitched 1 1/3 innings. Garland pitched 1 2/3 innings.
Leslie County will play Knox County on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the winner taking on Harlan on Monday at 6 for second place and a berth in the District 4 Tournament.
