
The Harlan County fifth- and sixth-grade team is going where no team at that level in the county has gone before.
The Black Bears ran their record to 13-0 and won the Region 4 championship with a 26-0 win over Johnson County on Saturday in Paintsville.
Quarterback Rayce Bryant ran for 195 yards on 14 carries with four touchdowns to lead the Bears. Brady White added 65 yards on seven carries.
Bryant completed four of five passes for 11 yards with two interceptions. White, Jase Wynn and Deacon Lisenbee each had catches.
Carson Clark led the HC defense with eight tackles. Hunter Roark had four. Maddox Landa and Braison Fox had three each. Lisenbee added two.
Harlan County advances to the state final four on Saturday in Somerset and will play the Briar Jumpers at 2 p.m. Other regional winners include Mayfield (a 30-0 winner over Paducah in Region 1), Ryle (a 36-0 winner over Conner in Region 2) and Somerset (a 36-34 winner over McCreary County in Region 3).
