The basketball brackets have been announced for the 13th Middle School Tournaments, sponsored by Harlan Propane.
The tournament begins Friday and concludes on Saturday for all three tournaments host by area county schools.
The eighth grade tournament will open Friday with two games at James A. Cawood Elementary School.
Pineville takes on Green Hills at 5:30, followed by the host Trojans facing Barbourville at 6:30.
Action will switch to Harlan County High School on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. with Clay County meeting Corbin. North Laurel plays Cumberland at 10:30 and South Laurel battles Harlan County around 11:30 a.m.
Knox Central faces the Barbourville-JACES winner at 12:30 p.m., followed by Whitley County taking on the Pineville-Green Hills winner at 1:30. At 2:30 p.m., Bell County will play the Clay County-Corbin winner. The final game in the quarterfinals features the North Laurel-Cumberland winner at 3:30 p.m.
The semifinals are scheduled at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., with the championship set for 7.
Wallins Elementary School will host the seventh-grade tournament on Saturday.
Whitley County plays Corbin at 11:30 a.m., followed by Clay County battling South Laurel at 12:30 p.m. The semifinals will begin at 1:30 with North Laurel facing the Whitley-Corbin winner. Knox Central will meet the Clay-South Laurel winner at 2:30 p.m.
The championship is set at 4.
The sixth grade tournament will be hosted by James A. Cawood Elementary School.
Two games will tip-off Friday at Harlan County High School as Harlan meets Rosspoint at 5 p.m., followed by Bell County versus Wallins at 6.
On Saturday, play resumes at JACES as Knox Central takes on Whitley County at 10:30 a.m. North Laurel plays Cumberland at 11:30.
The Harlan-Rosspoint winner takes on Manchester at 12:30 as the quarterfinals begin. Barbourville plays the Knox Central-Whitley County winner at 1:30 p.m., followed by Pineville battling the North Laurel -Cumberland winner at 2:30. The Bell County-Wallins winner meets South Laurel at 3:30 p.m.
The semifinals will begin at 4:30, with the championship game at 7.
The runners-up and champions of each division will receive a team trophy.
The champions for each division will receive championship T-shirts.
Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for all students, and children not attending school will be admitted be free.
Concessions will be sold at all three gymnasiums.
Also, if your school/team forfeits, the opposing team will advance in the bracket.
