Top-seeded James A. Cawood and Wallins moved into the semifinals of the seventh- and eighth-grade county tournament with wins Tuesday in the opening night of play at James A. Cawood Elementary School,
Walins downed Cawood 49-23 as Leland Cope led the Devils with 14 points. Sam Carmical, Braydon Gabbard and Landin Blackwelder each added eight points.
Isaiah Myers scored 11 and Kaydon Gray tossed in eight for the Comets.
James A. Cawood defeated Black Mountain 41-15 as Taylor Daniels scored 16 for the Trojans.
Kash Gooden led the Tigers with six points.
