Harlan County completed a 7-0 week in the Campbellsville University Team Camp by defeating Allen County-Scotsville 45-26 and Carroll County 49-18 in games Thursday. The Lady Bears improved to 14-1 overall in the summer with one week left.
“We played really well this week. We were able to compete against different teams and styles,” Harlan County coach Gary Greer said. “This is a dedicated group that works hard and wants to be coached. They continue to improve every day.”
The Lady Bears have featured a balanced offensive attack all summer and did so again Thursday as sophomore guard Jaycee Simpson scored 12 and Reagan Clem and Kenadee Sturgill each added 11 in the win over Allen County-Scottsville. Taylynn Napier tossed in six, followed by Shasta Brackett with four and Raegan Landa with three.
Clem scored 15 and Simpson added 13 in the rout of Carroll County. Sturgill scored nine, followed by Bracket with eight, Napier and Landa with five each and Khloe Carr with four.
Harlan County split two junior varsity scrimmages, defeating Greenwood 33-28 and falling 34-22 to McCracken County for it only loss of the week.
Crissalyn Jones, Kelsie Middleton and Jocelyn Miracle each scored eight against Greenwood. Andrea Napier tossed in seven. Morgyn Belcher added two.
Miracle scored six against McCracken, while Jones, Middleton, Natalie Moore and Napier added four each.
