Harlan County closed its summer schedule with three wins Wednesday at Knott Central.
The varsity Bears finished the summer at 15-2 with a 54-50 victory. Junior center Tucker Curtis scored 19 points to lead HCHS. Senior guard Trent Cole added 13. Colton Delaney scored eight, followed by Brady Smith with seven, Hayden Grace and Trey Creech with three each and Landon Brock with one.
“Overall, I thought the summer went pretty well. We got in plenty of varsity and JV games to see what we needed to see moving forward,” Harlan County coach Kyle Jones said. “This team, of course, has areas of improvement, but that is what practice will be used for come October. We have the potential to be balanced on the offensive end, and that is what we will need in order to be competitive in our district and region.”
Harlan County finished 13-2 overall in junior varsity and freshman scrimmages.
The Bears won 38-32 in freshman action Wednesday as Caysen Farley scored 16 and Easton Engle added 10 to lead the way. Trey Creech scored seven, followed by Kash Gooden with three and Taylor Daniels with two.
Harlan County won 41-39 in junior varsity action as Farley scored 13 and Engle tossed in 10. Creech scored nine, followed by Daniels with four, Rydge Lewis with three and Carson Sanders with two.
