The Harlan County Lady Bears added two more varsity wins in summer basketball action as they defeated Somerset 62-45 and Boyle County 45-25 on Thursday at Boyle County High School in Danville to improve to 7-1.
Sophomore guards Jaycee Simpson and Kenadee Sturgill scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, in the win over Somerset. Taylynn Napier and Crisalynn Jones each added 10 points, followed by Reagan Clem with seven and Andrea Napier and Natalie Moore with two each.
Clem scored 14 and Taylynn Napier added nine in the win over Boyle County. Sturgill tossed in eight, followed by Jones, Simpson and Shasta Brackett with four each and Raegan Landa with two.
Harlan County defeated Corbin 41-31 in junior varsity action as Jones scored 16 for the Lady Bears. Kelsie Middleton added nine, followed by Jocelyn Miracle with seven, Andrea Napier with four, Annie Burton with three and Moore with two.
Jones scored 15 to lead HC in a 31-26 loss to Bardstown. Morgyn Belcher scored five, Moore tossed in four, and Andrea Napier added two.
Simpson scored 13 and Clem added 12 as the Lady Bears downed Owsley County 49-32 on Wednesday at Leslie County. Taylynn Napier tossed in nine, followed by Sturgill with five, Landa with four and Jones, Brackett and Middleton with two each.
Sturgill scored 14 and Taylynn Napier added 13 in a 44-41 loss to Clay County on Wednesday. Simpson and Clem scored five each. Brackett and Landa added two each.
Jones poured in 16 as HHS downed Knott Central 32-22 in junior varsity action. Belcher scored seven, and Miracle added six. Annie Burton and Andrea Napier added two and one point, respectively.
