
The Harlan County Black Bears had their best day of the summer Monday with four victories in four games at Clay County High School. The varsity squad defeated Knox Central 58-47 and Whitley County 51-45 while the junior varsity squad downed Knox Central 45-40 and rolled past Whitley County 51-28.
Senior guard Trent Cole hit five 3-pointers and scored 21 to lead the Bears against Knox. Landon Brock and Colton Delaney added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Tucker Curtis scored eight, followed by Hayden Grace with six and Kaden Jones with two.
Cole scored 14 to lead HCHS against Whitley. Curtis scored nine. Brock added eight. Brady Smith and Grace each tossed in six. Jones and Delaney added four each.
Caysen Farley scored 15 points, Trey Creech tossed in 12 and Easton Engle added 10 as the Bears downed Knox Central in a game that went to the wire. Taylor Daniels scored six. Adrian Fields added two.
Farley poured in 19 to lead the Bears against Whitley. Blake Johnson added nine. Engle chipped in with nine. Carson Sanders and Fields each scored four. Kash Gooden tossed in three. Creech, Daniels and Pheonix Morgan added two each.
Harlan County returns to action Tuesday at home against Pineville.
